Trail day 14 - Twenty - Jack

Trail day 14 - May 26, 2017
Mile 784.8 - Mile 804.8
20 miles
Glasgow, VA to Johns creek shelter
5163.7 feet ascending
4456 feet descending

Our first twenty mile day!

Today started off great. Prof got his coffee, and it wasn't raining! We got a hitch from town to the trail fairly quickly. When we got to the trail head there was a couple handing out gatorade! A mile down the trail there was a cooler sitting there. Wouldn't you know It, theres beer inside! Getting trail magic is always a great way to improve your hike.

We seemingly climbed all morning. Who would have guessed. We ate lunch on top of Bluff Mountain, with a view

The afternoon got hot, and it was mostly downhill. We stopped around 16 miles in looking for a camp with no luck. We ended up hiking the full 20 to the shelter, had a late dinner, chatted with the hikers and went to bed. Feet are definitely hurting, and it was a little rough getting focused again after our zero day yesterday. We start off tomorrow morning with a 3600 foot climb over 4.2 miles. Yikes. Should be a good test of our newly aquired trail legs.

No service tonight, so this will go up tomorrow!
