Day 24 - Luray, and trip photos! - Jack

Tonight we're staying at the Open Arms Hostel in Luray, VA. I thought since I'll have wifi I'd post some unseen photos of our trip!

A quick summary of today was....

17 miles with no breaks. It was drizzling all day, but nothing too serious. No exciting views due to hiking in a cloud. I did 17 miles in about five and a half hours. Not bad pace!

Anyways here's some photos starting from the begining of our trip.

Me on the train down to Blacksburg. Look how clean my gear was!

Panoramic view of our campsite on the very first night.

Took a quick snack break to enjoy the view on day 2.

Morning of day four I believe. The days started to blend together!

There were some awesome hikes through pastures!

The memorial of Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in WWII.

I honestly can't remember when I took this photo. These exposed ridges were brutally hot to hike along!

Apple Orchard Mountain, one of our tougher climbs. In the rain I might add.

This is called the guillotine. Yikes.

Having a beer at the Glasgow, VA hiker shelter!

We walked along a bit of trail that used to be a town occupied by freed slaves. There were tons of stone walls, and old house foundations, and even some stone fireplaces still standing! We were walking through history.

Hikers gathered for lunch in the meadows. These meadows littered the mountain top.

The view from Spy Rock, where Stonewall Jackson spied on the Union army.

Me and Clicks, another hiker, on top of spy rock.

Getting a ride back to the trail from Devil's Backbone Brewery in the back of a pickup.

First day back in Shenandoah National Park! It was a great first day in the park.

View from Black Rock Mountain in the morning.

Cooking dinner with a view is always better!

Camped two nights in a row with a gorgeous sunset!

A photo could never do what we saw justice...

And that's all I have... for now. Only four or five days left until we're all done. There is only 80 miles between us and our goal, and we crossed the 300 miles hiked mark today!
